Golden Tempo stormed from the again of the pack to win the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on Saturday, giving Cherie DeVaux a landmark victory as the primary lady to coach the winner of the famed race.
Despatched off at 24-1, Golden Tempo broke slowly underneath jockey Jose Ortiz earlier than weaving via the 18-horse discipline and surging late to say the “Run for the Roses.”
Renegade, at 5-1, completed second, whereas 70-1 longshot Ocelli was third.
“I am glad I could be a consultant of ladies in all places. We are able to do something we set our minds to,” DeVaux stated in a post-race interview.
